*A Bold Step for Siaya: Championing Integrated Climate Action and Sustainable Development* We are thrilled to share a significant milestone in our collaborative efforts to advance a sustainable future for Siaya County. Our team recently held a highly productive engagement with the Office of the County Secretary & Head of Public Service, marking a pivotal jump-start for the county's climate action agenda. This meeting was more than just a discussion; it was a commitment to tangible progress. We have submitted a comprehensive pitch document to guide the next phase of this collaboration. The agreed-upon next step is a series of facilitated discussions with the Directorate of Climate Change, which we hope to commence in short order. Maintaining this momentum is critical, as it will allow for the necessary groundwork to be laid ahead of the ambitious goal of tabling four targeted climate legislations in the County Assembly of Siaya. At the heart of our proposal is a core belief: climate change and sustainable development are two sides of the same coin. Addressing them in isolation is not only ineffective but also inefficient. You cannot build a resilient economy on a deteriorating environment. Therefore, we are advocating for—and anticipating—a deeply collaborative process that fosters dialogue and creates strong linkages across all county directorates. A siloed approach will not serve the people of Siaya; an integrated one will. This breakthrough would not have been possible without the bold leadership of the County Secretary to front this process. We also extend our deepest appreciation to the entire County Government of Siaya (CGS) for maintaining an open-door policy and for their unwavering support as we collectively pushed this vital agenda forward. We do not take this collaborative spirit for granted. The journey is just beginning, but the political will is clear.
